Are your paper cups really made of paper?
Have you ever thought whether your paper cups are really made of paper? Some of them do, but the other ones not exactly. Quite often a disposable cup which is made out of paper is lined with wax or plastic in order not to get soggy, especially with hot beverages. You can think: Ok, it’s great, my cup won’t leak, but… In this case you receive a not totally eco-friendly paper cup, but rather a plastic one. And what about our ecology? The most interesting fact is that the recycling of such takeaway coffee cups is practically impossible. Paper and plastic is actually recyclable, but only separately, not together. It’s obvious that the process of the separating paper and plastic take time and no one wants to do it.
It’s difficult to believe, but most of paper cups can’t be called eco-friendly and safe for our health. Unfortunately, a great part of them should be treated as polystyrene cups due to their line.
But coffee lovers shouldn’t get upset. Not all of brands make plastic-covered paper cups. The Sheriffdrink paper cups are made only of eco-friendly paper that combines high quality and sturdiness in one cup. Yes, probably they won’t hold hot drinks inside for a whole day or more without getting soggy. It’s a kind of a fantasy. But made of only thick paper they do well with coffee or other beverages for some hours. No plastic lines, no damage to the nature, no discomfort. The choice is obvious.
